The second, amongst a series of Conferences, titled "SPEC 2009", was held on Novemeber 11th, 2009, at the Sun Customer Briefing Centre, London. The focus of this event was "Cloud, SaaS & SOA – the Business Impact" – how this triad can be leveraged effectively to increase the Software Product’s market-share and ROI.
Rave is a key player providing software product engineering services to the ISVs(Independent Software Vendors) for last 20 years, in the global market. Along with ISVs, Rave’s customers are ‘software intensive businesses where software is the key enabler for the revenue stream. This Conference Series aims at offering a platform to discuss key product engineering areas of this market segment, where Rave’s Customers share their experiences with other prominent personalities.
The conference started off with a warm welcome speech by Melvyn Burgoyne, Managing Director for Rave (UK). The seminar focused on the Business Models of Cloud and SaaS vis a vis the impact of cloud on the ISV business. The infrastructure needed for Cloud computing was discussed along with security and other issues. Dr. Rajan Nikam, Chief Architect, Rave Technologies, spoke about the technical perspective of Cloud, SaaS and SOA, sharing technical experiences of Rave in this area. Real-life case-studies were presented by Rave ‘s Customers for whom Rave had implemented technical solutions using Cloud, SaaS and SOA. This was a full-day event which provided an opportunity to network with speakers during lunch-time and tea-breaks.
